When Everything Goes Wrong….

Well, for somebody like me, everything goes wrong every day. Here’s my “what went wrong” list for today: I broke my favorite bottle, spilled milk all over the kitchen counter, procrastinated, and now I am afraid I might fail my exams tomorrow, binge-ate my snacks, got into a huge unreasonable fight with my best friend, my to-do list has only 3 checkmarks for 10 tasks.

While for most of you, these might not make sense as something that went “wrong” and for some, this would be too much for the day to handle, the reason being we all are different and we get affected by different things in a different manner.

But whatever it is, you don’t have to tell me, here are a few things to keep in mind when you feel like a huge tornado has overcome your life:

Hocus Pocus Focus!

“What’s done is done.” So focusing on what’s wrong and overthinking about what you could have done at that moment makes no sense. Just know that what you are going through, this empty feeling in your stomach, this blurry situation in front of you, it is all temporary.

So just accept the situation for now and move on. Focus on what your next couple of action steps would be to make this circumstance better.

What’s Going Right?

When you feel everything is going wrong, I understand that it’s hard to believe that there are still certain things that are going right and this is because you have set your mindset on the path of “What’s Wrong.”

So now try putting your mindset on “What’s Right” for once and see. I am sure you’ll save yourself from some unnecessary anxiety. Stop blaming yourself or other people or the circumstance, simply because there’s no point in doing so.

Just be in the present moment and concentrate on what’s still “Right.”

A Huge Pitfall キ A Huge Skyrocket

Don’t fall for those unrealistic and fake success stories after failure. I am not saying that’s not possible, but I want you to know that getting up and moving forward is a slow process that will require more determination and hard work than before.

So don’t expect much and take it slow. For now, even getting over the darkness of this dark phase and getting control of the situation day by day is also, in a way, a success. So celebrate those small wins until you reach your ultimate goals.

Sometimes we don’t even know what people have gone through or are dealing with in their lives, even if they are or have been very close to us. In these times, It’s best to surround yourself with great people (you know who am I talking about, not those “just chill” robots) and talk about your situation with them and ask for their advice.

Who knows they or someone they knew has gone through or are going through this phase in their lives themselves. You’ll save yourself a lot of sweat, time, and maybe even money, and most importantly, you’ll save your emotional strength.

Know The Actual Impact

A very important question to ask yourself whenever you feel too much worried about any particular situation is that: “Will this matter 5 years down the lane?” Worrying unreasonably will just waste your time and energy which you could have instead put in your future course of action.

Think about all the opportunities you still have and how you can work on them and make things better. Just keep moving forward and in no time you will have recovered and maybe actually landed on a better path.

Final Words

When you feel that everything is going wrong, first take a deep breath and identify if everything is actually going wrong. Sometimes, we are just in a normal phase of life and looking at life as a whole black and white picture, meaning, either everything is going right or everything is going wrong.

But most of the time, we are just in the process of reaching our goals and because there’s nothing right going on right now, we feel that everything is going wrong.
